I think you'll find that yes, this stuff works! Remembering I used to be a leader/preacher in a born again movement - our kids back then loved our version of a Blink 182 song - "woo hoo, now we're living for Jesus..."
Our kids would rock out at Youth Church Services with heavy guitars, wicked bass lines, break dancing, rapping, you name it, there was something for everyone. And they'd have fun and then would bring their friends. Then they'd bring their friends...
Youth Alive can sell out the Entertainment Centre three nights in a row - many internationally acclaimed bands can't do that.
Not saying I believe in it all now, but to answer your question - yes, changing the words to secular songs and making them Godly brings people to church, and most of them stay there.
